Hello, I’m Chris
I’m so glad you found your way here. Reaching out for support is a courageous first step, and I want you to know that you’ll be met with warmth, respect and confidentiality.
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a Level 4 Certificate in Counselling from Kingston College and a Certificate in Counselling Young Adults from the University of Oxford.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 30 years as a health and wellbeing journalist — giving me a deep, nuanced understanding of mental health that I bring to every session.

How I Work
I work integratively — drawing on psychodynamic, person-centred and humanistic approaches to tailor every session to you, your personality, your pace and your goals.

A Tailored Approach
Rather than following one fixed model, I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies — meaning the work genuinely fits you, not the other way around.
Psychodynamic
Exploring how past experiences and unconscious patterns shape the way we feel and behave today.
Person-Centred
You are the expert on your own life. This approach places you at the centre, with genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard.
Humanistic
A belief in your innate capacity for growth, resilience and positive change — even when that feels hard to see.
My Experience
My journey into counselling has been shaped by years of meaningful experience working directly with people facing real challenges. I bring this foundation of understanding into every session I hold.
I’ve worked as a counsellor with teachers across Surrey schools, supporting them with both school-based pressures and their own personal emotional, behavioural, relationship and family concerns. This experience has given me insight into the unique stressors that educators face, and the importance of creating space for their own wellbeing.
Before moving into counselling, I spent time as a teaching assistant, working alongside students to support their educational and emotional development both inside and outside the classroom. I worked with particular care and attention with young people experiencing behavioural and neurological conditions, helping them navigate their learning journey and build confidence in themselves.
This combination of experiences — as a journalist, a teaching assistant, and now a counsellor — has shaped who I am as a practitioner. I understand how life’s pressures accumulate, and I recognise the resilience it takes to ask for help.

- Grief and loss
